What

7 Spanish furniture brands. 5 Japanese designers.
Making together avant-garde spaces

If anything accurately describes Spain throughout its long history, it’s its capacity to adapt. It’s a country, after all, where people from different cultures and of different religions have coexisted for years. Thanks to its privileged geographical position, Spain has long been coveted by empires, and has left its cultural mark on them all, resulting in the Spanish character taking root and taking shape. Thanks to this very diversity, Spanish companies aim for perfection, since, if their ambition is to reach many markets, it’s essential they adapt to their needs, cultures and customs. At this exhibition, five prominent Japanese creatives have designed a series of spaces deploying pieces by Spanish manufacturers. This proves Spanish companies’ ability, desire and persistence in winning over the hearts of the Japanese. Exhibited in an unprecedented way, this unusual display, which has undoubtedly seen the meeting of two very different, rich cultures, spawns a new aesthetic which fuses light, colour, warmth and a love of good quality. This sees the Spanish embassy become a kind of Tower of Babel, where, thanks to this creativity, we can all understand a universal aesthetic language.
